Shipping policy

Order processing times are separate from the shipping times that appear at checkout. We do our best to process orders within 2 to 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order. However, during our busy holiday seasons (Halloween, Christmas/Hanukkah, Valentine's Day, and Easter) processing time may increase significantly. We will notify you if processing times are longer than normal. 

When the weather is warm, we do not ship product on Fridays. If your order is placed later in the week or if it is not processed until Friday, shipping will be postponed to the following week. This is to ensure your chocolate does not sit in the carrier's warehouse over the weekend and possibly become damaged due to a dangerous switch in temperature. 

You will receive a notification when your order has been placed and when it has been shipped. 

 

Shipping Rates and Estimates

Domestic shipping rates: Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout. 

International Shipping: We offer international shipping. Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout. Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes (including VAT), which are incurred once a shipment reaches your destination country. Vermont Nut Free Chocolates is not responsible for these charges if they are applied and are your responsibility as the customer.

Orders shipping to Canadian destinations are consolidated in our facility and transported across the border to a Canada Post depot. This keeps your shipping costs to a minimum and you do not incur any additional charges upon delivery for import duties or taxes. These trips are approximately every three to four weeks and depending on the timing of your order, it could ship anywhere from a few days within placement to a few weeks. If you need your package sooner and would like alternative international shipping methods please contact customer service for options and quotes.

 

In-store pickup

You can skip the shipping fees with free local pickup at our factory storefront, located at 146 Brentwood Drive, Colchester, Vermont. After placing your order and selecting local pickup at checkout, your order will be prepared and ready for pick up within a few hours. We will send you an email when your order is ready along with instructions. 

Our in-store and curbside pickup hours are 8am-4pm on Monday-Friday. If you would prefer curbside pickup, please call us at 802-891-9856 when you arrive. 

 

How do I check the status of my order?

You can see the status of your order in the Shop App, on our website in the 'Order History' section of your account, or by using the chat feature on our website. 

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available. 

If you haven’t received your order within 7 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at customerservice@vermontnutfree.com with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.


Shipping in warm weather

Chocolate is perishable and begins to melt at temperatures over 70°F. The inside of the delivery truck is much warmer than the outside air temperature and we want your order to arrive in excellent condition, so we handle warm weather shipping as follows:

When temperatures are at or above 70°F between Vermont and the destination of the package, an insulated styrofoam shipping container and gel ice pack are strongly recommended, at an additional charge of $7.50. We also suggest that you choose a shipping method that is three days or less to ensure your chocolates arrive in good condition. 

If you have items in your cart that will melt in high temperatures, you will receive a notification at checkout. If you decide to forgo the Warm Weather Shipping Container and Ice Pack, you are assuming the risk of your chocolate melting in transit and we will not refund or replace your damaged product.
